About TOEFL
It is one of the most well-known standardized tests, developed by the American educational testing service ETS (Educational Testing Service). Currently, more than 5,000 colleges, universities and agencies in 90 countries require or accept TOEFL scores. The results of the TOEFL test are valid for 2 years.
Since 2015, TOEFL is accepted by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova for BAC .
Candidates who passed, during their pre-university education, internationally recognized exams for the certification of linguistic skills in foreign languages and hold a certificate attesting a level of linguistic competence equal to or higher than level B2 (C1 for candidates from bilingual classes) , corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Order of the Ministry of Education regarding the ex officio scoring of 10 for the BAC exam in a foreign language
To get an official 10 on the BAC exam, you must get on the TOEFL test:
- Students of simple classes – B2 (86-109 points).
- Students of bilingual classes – C1 (110-120 points).
Duration of the training program: 72 academic hours over 2 months
Hours : Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Start times: 9:00, 11:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:30
Required level : B1 (strong intermediate), will be established after an initial test at the ALC headquarters;

About the SAT Tests we could say that they are the American Baccalaureate. All high school graduates take this test and one cannot apply to an American university without it. Therefore, not only the level of language knowledge is tested. SAT tests have special sections for math, literature, history, geography, etc. Depending on the score obtained, the university and specialization can be chosen.
SAT tests are administered in Romania 6 times a year, in several test centers in Bucharest (Tudor Vianu High School, Fullbright Center), Arad (Vasile Goldis High School), Baia Mare (School no. 5), Constanța (Mircea cel Batrân) and Iasi (Euroed Foundation).
SAT tests refer to SAT I – Reasoning Test and SAT II – Subject Tests. The SAT I includes the vocabulary and math sections. SAT II includes specialized sections on literature, history, geography, etc. There are a total of 20 subject areas to choose from for the SAT II. The SAT I takes approximately four hours, while the SAT II (based on grid questions) takes one hour for each subject chosen.
SAT test scores are valid for life.

About IELTS
Candidates who need to study or work in countries where English is the language of communication. The test covers the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
You can choose one of two options: Academic (for higher studies) or General Training (for emigration, work or secondary studies). The test is taken on paper and is administered in 5 locations in Romania and 15 locations in Ukraine.
The IELTS test consists of four tests:
- Listening: 40 minutes (approx.)
- Academic Reading or General Training Reading: 60 minutes
- Academic Writing or General Training Writing: 60 minutes
- Speaking: 11 – 14 minutes (approx.)
IELTS test results are valid for 2 years. Since 2015, IELTS results have been accepted by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova for BAC.
- Students of simple classes – B2 (5.0 – 6.0 points)
- Students of bilingual classes – C1, C2 (6.5 – 9.0 points)

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a general test that assesses verbal, quantitative and analytical skills, obtained over a long period of time and that are not part of a specific field of study.
The test consists of three sections.
- Analytical writing: 75 minutes (two written exercises)
- The problem (45 minutes) – to develop the personal point of view on a problem;
- Argument (30min) – to analyze an argument.
The Analytical Writing section tests critical thinking and the ability to write in an analytical way, the ability to articulate and argue complex ideas, to analyze an argument and to maintain a focused and coherent discussion.
Verbal section: 30 minutes – the verbal section tests the ability to analyze and evaluate written materials and to synthesize the information obtained from them, to analyze the existing relationships between the component parts of the sentence and to identify the relationships between words and concepts.
Quantitative Section: The quantitative section evaluates basic mathematical abilities, the ability to understand elementary mathematical concepts, and the ability to make quantitative judgments and solve problems with quantitative assumptions.
The fee for taking the test is 180 US dollars.

The Duolingo English Test is a modern language exam, which efficiently and accurately evaluates the knowledge of the English language. The test is available online, upon request, for only $49 (US dollars). You don’t need to make an appointment or go to a test center – you can take the test from home or any other place, using a computer connected to the Internet and a webcam.
The test is administered using a computerized adaptive technology, which means that the difficulty of the questions adapts to each test taker. The test also includes a video interview and a written test, which are sent to the institutions, together with the score obtained at the end of the test.
The whole experience lasts a little under an hour. The test results are available in 48 hours, and the obtained certificate can be shared with an unlimited number of institutions.
