Why IELTS?

With all of the above, IELTS is the most popular English language proficiency certification test, recognized in more than 140 countries around the world. More than 2.7 million tests are administered annually. In addition, IELTS is the only English language test that is accepted for immigration purposes by all  countries that require a language test.

Among young people, this test is said to be simpler than the previous ones, which could be a privilege for those who are not sure of their strengths.

IELTS is a test organized and administered directly by the British Government through the British Council.

What does the IELTS test give us?

In fact, this test has a very repulsive feature for candidates from Moldova. This is because it cannot be supported here. However, those who want to do it can do it in Romania.  We will inform you about the specific localities below.

It is important to note that the IELTS English Language Proficiency Certificate is valid for a period of two years only.

The test has two major modules: ACADEMIC TEST – it is used for those who perform a job that requires a higher degree of communication skills and technical knowledge (doctors, teachers, engineers). It is used for exact trades and college admissions. GENERAL TEST – used to actually test language skills. It is used for less precise jobs (economists, lawyers, etc.). Especially for emigration, the GENERAL test is given.

The diploma obtained following an IELTS test is also recognized by the Ministry of Education as certifying English language skills, which means that it is an eligible document for its holder to be  issued with a grade  ” 10″ ex officio from the baccalaureate exam in the foreign language test.

In the case of accumulating an inadequate score, you will have the opportunity to repeat the test in a maximum of three months.

The test is held monthly, a schedule quite suitable to give candidates the opportunity to organize themselves according to their own schedule and will.

The structure of the test

ILETS testing consists of four tests: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Each of these has a specific performance. The first three tests are given in a single exam of 2 hours 45 minutes, and the last one is given later, a few days later.

The testing is done in the same room for those who give ACADEMIC, and for those who take GENERAL, with the mention that they have other materials for the exam. The difference between the two versions of the test consists in the READING and WRITING tests, the other two tests being similar.

How much does it cost and where can the exam be taken?

To take the test you will have to register at one of the support centers whose list you have here:  the list of centers in Romania  and  the list of centers in the world .

It is recommended that candidates register online at least five weeks before the test date. It is also important for them to bear in mind that places at the test sessions are limited. After the seats are sold out, registration for the test sessions will no longer be available, even if the registration deadline has not ended.

You will receive an e-mail five working days before the test date, confirming the time and place of the test, as well as other administrative details.

If you still want to take the test at a partner center instead of the British Council, you must take into account that test dates are confirmed depending on the availability of the partner centers and if a minimum of 20 candidates register for that session. To register for the IELTS test at British Council partner sites, we recommend that you contact the partner center directly.

The registration fee for the IELTS test sessions between April and December 2016 is  800 RON.

Participants in the courses of the British Council English Language Center in Romania benefit from a 10% discount on registration, under the following conditions:

• registration for the exam will be done within a maximum of three months after the completion of the course;
• the registration fee will be paid only by bank transfer from the bank where you have an open account or in cash at Banca Transilvania or CEC Bank.
